Winter Haven 2025
Winter Haven National Flyin 2025
One by one the Cardinals arrived, until we had a pretty good showing! This picture was taken part way through that process.
Those who arrived a bit early got together for Italian that evening.
Special thanks to Carly Tilman and Russ McDonald for many of the images in this report.
The rest of the photos were taken by Keith and Debbie Peterson.
Many people contribute to these events, and we thank you all for pitching in and helping to make things work.
There is also a video report on the day trip here.
After most had arrived, our Saturday Social gathering was at Grove Root brewery, a venue which brought rave reviews for the beverages, seating, ability to talk easily and the special Pizza from The Bistro.
Catching up and meeting new folks.
The weather was nice on Flight Line Day and stayed that way as a good crowd worked their way around the airplanes, hearing each owner's story.
A couple of owners pulled their cowls for a closer look. In this case to look at the Electroaire electronic ignition system.
We gathered in the grove for the presentation portion of the day.
Debbie started us out with logistics.
The group was interactive as usual.
And Darren from Powerflow had some things to share.
Award banquet time, and Russ captured each table.

We started the awards with a door price, here a clever drink holder designed by Jim Bowker which attaches between the seat rails.
The drink holder prize was won by Victor Grille.
Emma Chapman won a Door Spring door prize, thanks to Roy Sobchuk.
The door prize of a door striker plate, donated by Roy Sobchuk, was won by Jack Bartholet.
Emma Chapman was encouraged to swap out her Piper hat for a CFO hat after winning her door prize.
The newest pilot award was won by Art Lucia.
The Fledgling Award (most recent Cardinal purchased) was won by Phil Olson.
The Active Wings Award, for flying the most in the last year, also went to Art Lucia, who has been flying a lot indeed! He shares that last year he visited all the airports in the state of Virginia
The Wet Wings award, for the most recent IFR ticket, was won by Derek Thompson.
Dick Zuley received a special "Best Dressed" award for raising the standard of dress for this event.
The new Earliest Member award was awarded to Don Imhoff. He is Member # 120 and joined CFO on January 3,2000.
The Flew Furthest award was won by Karl Thomas, who flew 1124 nm from Kerrville, TX.
The Hard Luck award was presented to Rick Kennard, accepted by Joe Jervis, mechanic. Rick went into the hospital this week for gall bladder issues and had surgery. He promised himself in 2024 that his airplane would be in Winter Haven in 2025. Since he could not fly it himself, he sent his mechanic and a pilot to bring the plane.
Karl Thomas was presented with a trophy for his having won the Best In Show award in 2019, as for some reason we ended up with two of them. He says he already got one... so, hangar and house?
We had a unique event this year as two very nice Cardinals each received an equal amount of votes. The group decided to award the prize to both people.
Here the team who brought Rick Kennard's airplane (N34502) to the event accepted his award.
Jim Bowker and Glenda Underwood were also awarded the Best In Show trophy for their very nicely updated Cardinal (N45128.)
A big thank you to all was shared by Keith and Debbie.
There was also a celebration of CFO being 25 years old. The founders Keith, Debbie and Paul are shown.
